At the highest point of western Hungary is the Írottő, 884 meters high. The observation tower is situated on the border between Hungary and Austria. From this point you have a wonderful view over the Alps but also Western Hungary to the Balaton. To get there you have to be hiking there. This can be done from Velem, but also from the Austrian side, which is the shortest route.
