The castle sits atop an ancient volcano conical hill. It was built in the 13th century and expanded in the 15th and 16th centuries. It is one of the most beautiful castles of Hungary. The ruins are currently being restored so now you can see how the castle looked like in the 17th century, before it was blown up by the Austrians. In addition, there is a great view of the Zemplén mountains.
