Deerfarm (Bőszénfa)

Pécs • Zoos

Description

In the small village Bőszénfa, just outside of Kaposvár, you can visit the deer farm. This largest deer farm in Hungary belongs to the landscape and wildlife management department of the University of Kaposvár.

The center began as an experimental program, and now it is one of the largest reserve in Central Europe . The 1300 hectares of land provides a habitat for over 1,500 deer, 300 wild boars, 200 fallow deer, 150 muflons and about 50 roes. They also breed domesticated animals, like the Hungarian gray cattle, Racka sheep, pigs, horses, donkeys, goats and water buffalo.

The location is unique in Hungary because they are in an area has a lot to prove such as wildlife management, farming, forestry, hunting, game meat processing and tourism.

You can make a trip by horse and cart, or with the tractor (call 24 hour in advance to book), there is the trophy room where antlers are many and the pasture with domestic animals.
