Castle in Szigliget

The citadel was built between 1260 and 1262 for the abbey of Pannonhalma. The citadel has been situated on top of the 239 meters high castle mount. On top the view is terrific concerning the Lake Balaton. The citadel has been blown up in 1702, by the Austrian commanders. It had been already many times cultivated up to that time and had been extended. There can be seen still parts of the dungeons, palace and the house of the citadel father. There are restoration activities at this moment going on.
