Antiquitypark Gorsium

Gorsium is alsco called the Hungarian Pompei. It got its flowering time from the second up to the fourth century and was the mental center of the emperor cult of Under-Pannonia. Now it is the oldest archaeological park of the country and of the most important places in Europe with excavations from the Roman time. Excavations during 44 years exposed large parts of the 1800 years old city, among which are the town walls, gateways, the forum, churches, the sanctum, a theater for 1200 persons, public bathing resorts, the old-Christian basilicas, the palace of the governor and a part of the cemetery. On some days there are shows from the Roman time (clothing and such).
