The over 700 years old Matthias church on the beautiful citadel hill is the church in which in former days a lot of kings were crowned. The church is the sanctum of the Hungarian nation. On the head furnace bridge stand the Maria-statue with the crown that it is sent by the pope in 2000. Loreto-chapel is famous of the old sculptures, in a vault nearby the sepulchre of king Béla III can be seen. The frescos and stained-glass windows are also famous. In the museum one can see the history of the church and it's largest treasures. The tower can be climbed, which are 197 steps and no elevator. For this, a separate card is needed. The ascent is every hour for up to 15 people.
